Bio
Barrie Lindsay is a musical artist, producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Born in Massachusetts, Barrie started playing music at a young age and attended Wesleyan University in Connecticut to study music theory and composition. In 2014, Barrie released an EP under the name Grammar. In 2017, Barrie moved to New York City and started the self-titled project called Barrie with four other musicians, Spurge, Sabine, Dom, and Noah, who she met through a previous manager and a Brooklyn internet radio station called The Lot Radio. The five piece group released Singles in 2018, followed by their debut LP ‘Happy To Be Here’ in 2019.
After taking the project solo shortly after the debut album, Barrie’s second album, ‘Barbara’, came out in March 2022 which she self-engineered and produced with the creative guidance of her wife, musician Gabby Smith. Barbara was deemed “one of the most complete pop full-lengths of 2022” (Billboard) and “an album that truly sounds like no other” (Consequence). Garnering praise from the New York Times, FADER, NPR, PAPER, and NYLON, Barbara saw Barrie’s artistic ambitions become emboldened. Barrie’s latest release ‘5K’ released Mar 2023.
Barrie has supported artists like Japanese Breakfast, Alex G, Men I Trust, Nilüfer Yanya, Wet, Miya Folick, Belle & Sebastian, and appeared at festivals such as Pitchfork Paris, Pitchfork London, MoMA PS1, London Calling (Amsterdam), MIRRORS Festival (London), and Kilby Block Party. Her music has appeared in Good Girls, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Sex Lives of College Girls, Never Have I Ever, Along For The Ride, Thrasher Magazine, and more.
